Bulgaria’s oldest football club, Botev Plovdiv, has taken another step towards embracing Bitcoin and accelerating mass adoption of the digital currency. This comes in a strategic partnership with JAN3, a leading technology company focused on expanding access to Bitcoin. The club first gained attention within the digital currency space when it became the world’s first top division team to embrace Bitcoin on October 31, 2023.
Botev Plovdiv’s innovative approach positions the club on the international stage as a pioneer in the integration of sports and technology. This vision is championed by its owner Anton Zingarevich who had the following to say pertaining the partnership:

As part of this partnership, Botev Plovdiv will now sport JAN3’s logo on their home and away jerseys for the remainder of the 2023/2024 season. Additionally, brand new “Botev Mode,” JAN3’s AQUA wallet customized with the team’s iconic colors, along with an update to include Bulgarian language support will be introduced. A significant milestone in bridging the gap between professional sports and Bitcoin.
This collaboration introduces innovative measures to integrate Bitcoin into the club’s operations and engage with its fan base. To celebrate it, the club aims to offer special discounts and a cashback program for Bitcoin transactions at official club stores, encouraging the community to engage with Bitcoin. This will encourage its supporters and Bitcoin supporters alike to head to the official Botev Plovdiv store and buy the new jerseys as well as any other team merchandise, knowing that they will be able to pay with Bitcoin using their AQUA wallets.
